so i just listen to the episode and you got me thinking about the whole ending a show with music and i think that in some case it really help tie people off till the next episode. An example is the first two season of the O.C. the end of the first season of the O.C. were they played that song brought me to tears as ryan left and seth sailed off.

Hey guys-

Long comment this time. Here goes:

Re: Torchwood- I didn't watch all of series 1 and 2. I watched 2 episode of series 1 and gave up on it. Then I heard the second series was much better, so I watched the premiere of that- it was much better, but still not good enough to get me to commit. The third series is only 5 episodes long, so I figured I'd give it a shot again and I'm glad I did. You don't have to see the first two series at all to watch the third one- try it out if you're looking for something new to watch. It's dark sci-fi (based firmly on Earth, Chrystina, no worries), not unlike a cross between X-Files and Dr. Who. Let me know if you check it out.

Also, Chrystina, "Holly, I'm here" is from the series premiere of Cupid, an ABC show that came and went last midseason. It's about a man who claims to be Cupid- he says he's been kicked out of Mt. Olympus after he pissed off Zeus and that he can only get back after he helps 100 couples find true love (without his arrows- the hard way). The female lead is Claire, his psychiatrist who specializes in relationships, who's trying to figure out who he is and is using him as the basis for her new book. The show is based roughly on the myth of Cupid and Psyche, only you don't know if the main character actually is Cupid or is just crazy. The one you saw was actually a remake starring Bobby Canavale and Sarah Paulson. The original starred Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall and is definitely superior- I'd highly recommend it. It's about 10 years old, lasted one season, and still hasn't found its way to DVD. However, all the episodes are available on YouTube. The new version should be around online too, but if you're gonna watch one, go for the original, as several of the plotlines from the new show are retreads of the original series that were done better the first time. The show was created by Rob Thomas, who also created Veronica Mars and Party Down.

As for episodes ending in musical montages, my favorite is from Lost season 1 episode "...In Translation". The traditional end-of-ep montage starts, but the music cuts out abruptly and it cuts to Hurley, who's just run out of batteries on his walkman- he says "Son of a bitch", and tosses the walkman away, as the sound of the surf comes up. I appreciated them poking fun at the cliche, particularly as it's one they used frequently before that (and not much afterwards, if I remember correctly).

Kate

PS- The summer viewing is going well. I'm currently on Season 3 of Farscape. Don't know what I'll do after I finish that up- unfortunately, none of my town libraries have FNL.
